At an annul meeting held in Las Vegas, Dr. Jennifer L. Walden, M.D. addressed a talk on the controversies in female genital rejuvenation. The meeting was hosted by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Known as ASAPS in the profession. At this meeting, Dr. Walden talked about the three most popular myths and the real life situations she sees everyday in her practice.
The first myth that Dr. Walden sets straight is that most men in our culture have a very unrealistic expectation of the female body and many of the aspects that go with it. Dr. Walden feels that many people feel this is adding to the increasing trend of female genitalia beautification. Dr. Walden corrects this myth. It is not the men that are making this beautification rise. Cosmetic vaginal procedures both evasive and noninvasive are on the rise because women in general want to look and feel good with all aspects of their body. Procedures like ThermiVa which is a non invasive radiofrequency procedure can help a woman with issues like mild urinary leakage and other issues like dryness often associated and brought on my menopause.
The second myth addressed is that women are vein about their body and that perhaps it should not be enhanced cosmetically. Dr. Walden says that as laser hair removal and waxes are becoming more and more common, so are other corrective actions. Women can see their private parts and as a result they want to make them more beautiful and functional. Cosmetic enhancements are on the rise and there are many benefits associated with them.
The third myth that Dr. Walden addresses is that only men care about vaginal tightness and orgasmic ability during sex. Dr. Walden says that just because women don’t speak about it in the open does not mean they don’t care about it. Sexual health is just as important to a woman. What is even better is that Dr. Walden is able to help these women to address these concerns and correct them.
